About Us

History & Information

Forest Lodge Care Home is a well-established care home which has been providing high quality residential care for the elderly and vulnerable adults for over 35 years. Forest Lodge is a family run care home offering a homely atmosphere and providing excellent care for the elderly. Forest Lodge ensures the continuity of excellent care and offers a "family friendly" atmosphere; this is what makes us different from other care homes.

Forest Lodge Care Home is a mental health & dementia registered home, with dementia care facilities available. We specialise in alcohol and substance abuse, recovery and dependence, Alzheimer’s and bipolar/manic depression & mental health patients. We at Forest Lodge also offer respite care throughout the year allowing you the opportunity to take advantage of outstanding care within a peaceful home as and when you require it. We strive to take care of every aspect of an individual’s care which is carefully tailored to the individuals needs and carried out by our highly trained carers.

Forest Lodge care home is set amongst the beautiful mature trees of Forest Recreational Park. The 28 bedrooms are well proportioned and 15 are equipped with en-suite. The home has walk in showers, WC's located throughout. All of our staff are NVQ (QCF) trained carers and are available 24 hours a day for your every need. Our continuous development of staff training maintains a highly skilled workforce.

Forest Lodge has enjoyed enormous support from the local community, and has built close ties with the Nottingham High School and Hollygirt School with many of their students volunteering to come to the home and help out and spend quality time with our residents.

We at Forest Lodge place a great emphasis on the delivery of person centred care, independence within a communal living. We offer an open house policy and encourage close involvement with residents, relatives and loved ones. Our residents are treated as individuals with their own personal needs recognised and catered for.

Here at Forest Lodge we provide the very best in care and are able to offer many facilities. We have a large home where residents can relax with a cup of tea, sit with their family and spend some quality time with their loved ones. Residents can sit in quite rooms and stimulate their minds with puzzles and jigsaws.

The Management Team

All employees at Forest Lodge go through a tough process, prior to being employed to ensure we have the best possible carers to join our team. We have implemented a comprehensive training programme throughout the home. This has enabled all of our staff to be NVQ (QCF) qualified in their roles. Raja Riaz Khan – Manager

Mr. Raja Riaz Khan is the proprietor and registered manager of Forest Lodge who has over 30 years of experience in the care industry. Mr Khan is qualified to QCF (NVQ) Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care, Registered Managers Award. He has built a loving relationship with everyone at the home, and is still very enthusiastic about his work after all these years.

Shafeena Akhtar Khan – Manager

Mrs Khan is another registered manager of Forest Lodge and has over 20 years of experience in the care industry. Mrs Khan ensures that Forest Lodge is run to her high expectations. Shafeena is also qualified to QCF (NVQ) Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care, Registered Managers Award. Shafeena is also a qualified chef and has a great passion for cooking, and holds a Level 2 in food hygiene course.

Raza Khan - Assistant Manager

Raza Khan is an Assistant Manager and holds over 10 year’s post-registration experience. Raza holds a QCF (NVQ) Level 5 Registered Managers Award and an Advanced Hygiene Trainers Award and City and Guilds Health & hygiene. Raza has also graduated at Nottingham Trent University in BA Business Studies allowing him to develop Forest Lodge to becoming a great home. Training is a major professional interest both for Raz and the staff at the home ensuring the best quality is always delivered.

Ayaz Khan – Assistant Manager

Ayaz Khan is another of the home’s Assistant Manager’s. Ayaz holds a QCF (NVQ) Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care, Registered Managers Award. Ayaz has been in the care industry for over 8 years and has flourished in his role since he began. Started off as a care assistant and has worked his way up showing good enthusiasm towards his role, a good work ethic, and has worked hard to become qualified as a registered manager.

Forest Lodge is inspected by Nottingham City Council and The Care Quality Commission (CQC), formerly the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) regularly. Who regulate and inspects all adult social care services in the public, private and voluntary sectors in England.

Forest Lodge is inspected on a regular basis by the management team. Forest Lodge is committed to providing the best possible care for all of our residents and catering for all their needs. Forest Lodge prioritises quality of care at the top of our business goals and strategy. This ensures that our staff and management team are developed with the highest degree of quality and awareness. Our management team has introduced quality systems that incorporate audits, inspections, questionnaires and feedbacks from service users, staff, managers, visitors and families. This allows us to ensure any downfalls are addressed and improvements are made.

Quality Assurance

Forest Lodge’s Registered Manager is qualified to NVQ Level 5, and has over 30 years of experience in the care industry. We also have two young registered managers qualified to the same standard Level 5 who are excellent in their role in caring for the elderly and are showing great enthusiasm towards their role. Staff currently employed here at Forest Lodge have been in the care industry for a long period of time, ranging from 4 years to 20 years +. This all adds to our great workforce here at Forest Lodge, and our quality of service.

Criminal Records Bureau

The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) have merged into the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). CRB checks are now called DBSchecks.

What is a CRB?

A CRB check. Quite simply, it is the means for us as an employer to verify a prospective or current employee's response to the question: "Do you have any criminal convictions?" In certain jobs, the employer has both the moral and legal obligation to be sure. This is ensuring that our residents are safe at all times with the people we employ.

The Food Standards Agency is an independent government department responsible for food safety and hygiene across the UK. Forest Lodge is regularly inspected by the food standards agency. The work with us to ensure we are producing safe food, and we are adhering to food regulations.

NHS Nottingham

Nottingham City Care Partnership, are the leading provider of NHS community services in Nottingham. They visit Forest Lodge providing health services to our residents to improve the health of local people.

Nottingham Fire and Rescue

The Nottingham Fire & Rescue Service inspects the building and fire safety of Forest Lodge on an annual basis. Ensuring that we are compliant with all aspects of fire regulations and safety in the UK. The Fire & Rescue Service review our risk assessment to ensure that it covers all aspects of fire safety.

Quality Standards

We are Investors in People & Proud – In any business staff are an integral part, therefore our staff are our most valuable asset. Therefore their training and development is paramount to our success and the running of our successful home.

Monthly Internal Audit

Every month at Forest Lodge the management team carries out audits to evaluate the home. The audits involve services, care and a wide range of other activities. This information is collated by the management team used by the home to introduce improvement plans, recommendations, and discuss throughout meetings.

We have an onsite safety advisor that reviews all of our Health and Safety aspects, as well as dealing with the Fire Authority regulation checks.

Our complaints procedure is clearly shown in the Service Users Guide and an “open door” policy is held by the Manager.

Customer Satisfaction

Here at Forest Lodge we strive to give the highest level of care to both residents and their families therefore we hold a confidential survey to find out from our residents, staff and visitors how they are finding our services. This enables us to improve regularly, make changes, and make life better for the ones you love. We try to build a good relationship with our cliental making it a family atmosphere and working together with them to make living here at Forest Lodge peaceful and enjoyable.

Care Assistants & Staff

All of our staff are NVQ trained care assistants and are supervised by the managers of the Home. Our continuous and on-going training has produced a well-experienced workforce. 24-hour care is provided by our carers based on each resident’s individual care plan. The 24-hour specialist nurse call system allows for residents to be attended to when they require.

All of our carers undergo a trial period which ensures we employ only the best at Forest Lodge, giving our residents the best care possible. We at Forest Lodge aspire to offer the best quality time at the home and therefore always try to maintain the home by having a gardener, having housekeeping and keeping up to date with maintenance around the home. We ensure that all of our employees are trained to the relevant standards and are up to date with training programmes. At Forest Lodge our emphasis is in the detail and we ensure our staff takes care of all our resident’s needs.
